My Grandfather would be so proud to see what great pea picking great grandchildren he has! We arrived at the farm around 10, and it was obvious the rows had already been pretty well combed - especially the Sugar Snap variety. Rebecca, Alex and Sam worked with me in a Sugar Snap row, doing a very nice job of working together combing through the plants, looking for peas that were long enough and fat enough to pick. Emily worked with my friend Donna over in the Snow Pea row. Those two had much better success - Emily's peas (in her right hand) represent 1/4 of the peas they picked. 1/2 went to the farm, 1/4 went to Donna, and 1/4 went to Emily.
Now that they've done all this work, I'm really, really, really hopeful they will actually EAT the peas when I serve them for dinner. We shall see.
