Questions from Babes

We've had some interesting questions asked in our house lately that I want to document ...

Rebecca:
A while back, it might have been for Diane's birthday, we were at her house having dinner, I've forgotten the specific details of the conversation ... someone please fill them in if you can ... but it prompted Rebecca to ask "Who's Elvis?"

Well the half of the table that heard her quiet question, gave a quick gasp, the way you would if one of your friends had asked the same question ... A shocked, what do you mean, who's Elvis? Do you live under a rock? Do your parents live under a rock ... how can you not know who Elvis is? You have truly been deprived... So GR and I are scrambling to solve this problem. Thankfully Grandma Rita, a very good friend of Diane's, is a huge Elvis fan, and we're hoping she can help us quickly catch Rebecca up to speed.

Emily:
Curious George is still one of the kids favorite afternoon shows to watch after school. After watching one of the stories about the country and the city, Emily asked, "Mom, do we live in the country or the city?" ... "Well ... neither, we live in the suburbs." I then had to explain what in the world the suburbs were.

Sam:
In primary over the last month or so, the kids have been talking about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Sunday on the way home from Church Sam noticed two different churches with large wooden crosses outside. When he saw the first one, he started talking about how Jesus died on a cross and that Jesus was resurrected. He wanted to know how and why Jesus died on the cross. When he saw the second cross, he asked, "Who died on that cross?" "No one sweetheart, it's a symbol, a reminder that Jesus died for all of us." "Why is it there if nobody is going to be made dead on it?"

This led to a good dinner conversation about why many churches have crosses outside and inside their buildings and why we don't.
