These first two are from Saturday, June 16th.
After getting up from a short rest at Grandma and Grandpa's, Sam decided that instead of swimming with GR and the girls, he wanted to ride his new car. After a couple rounds around the house, I asked if he'd give Alex a ride. The Vet doesn't have seat belts, but there is a bit of a side and Alex didn't bat an eyelash at the idea of sitting next to Sam. He put his hand on Sam's thigh, and off they went. Alex was perfectly content and never once seemed scared or concerned ... Sam is an excellent driver, but in the Vet he does tend to lurch more than the other cars when he steps on the gas.
This week the girls attended a four day art camp and Sam spent 3 of the 4 afternoons at Grandma's. Wednesday when he came home, he'd barely made it inside when he realized he'd forgotten something. His eye's welled up with tears, and he was talking so fast I couldn't understand anything but "forgot" and "Grandma." So I rushed him out to her car before they pulled out of the driveway hoping we could fix whatever was wrong.
Seconds later he came back to the house smiling, holding a bag, and jabbering about new matching outfits Grandma had gotten for him and Alex. He was so excited about having a matching outfit to wear with Alex that he insisted that they put on the clothes right then and there, wearing them for PJs and all the next day.
