We had pure hail for a straight 20 minutes, then a break of just hard rain, and then another 10 minutes or so of hail. We are both amazed that the children didn't wake up - the hail and strong winds were coming from the east, and their windows all face east; no windows were broken; and GR's Civic sustained NO damage (it sat unprotected in the driveway). As you can see from the pictures, the hail ranged in size from golf ball and shooter size down to marble size... 1/2" - 1-1/4" in diameter. GR risked a concussion, and got three of the larger ice pellets and stuck them in the freezer so we could show the kids and you what happened during the storm.
Thankfully my flowers and plants seem to have survived the pelting they received. They are a little beaten down and the tulip and hosta leaves are shredded in spots, but other than that, they are going to survive. We've desperately needed the rain. And they are expecting more on Monday and Tuesday.

You own a Cadillac?
...Actually, GR and Elspeth own a Cadillac that's sitting in our garage ... it was Poppy's car and when he passed away in December it was given to both of them. And instead of diverting money from the trust to sell the car, GR is doing that.
We've had one serious buyer look at it and tomorrow we have another serious buyer looking at it. Maybe GR will post the link to all the stats.
Lots of people have asked why we aren't keeping it - it's way nicer than anything we own, but it's simply not practical for our family, and Elspeth isn't interested in it.
Hello, I have crayon drawings on the ceiling of my van, and who knows what on the floors. I have enough to stress, fuss and fret over, I don't want to have to worry about keeping a new car nice with four kids! :)
